It does astound me how the media and so many people are so in love with Craigslist. There are a lot of good things about it, but the quality of its job postings are not one of them. Quality employers know that the cost of a job posting ad is an insignificant part of their cost of hiring a well qualified new employee. Cheap does not make better. Yet there is definitely this love affair with Craiglists. Maybe it is because so many of us love to root for the underdog. That's fine, but when it comes to recruiting quality people, I'd rather root for the vendor that's going to help me hire the best quality person rather than a person at the cheapest possible cost.

Excellent comments Steve! Thanks very much for sharing your perspective.

I'm not a recruitment professional, however as a job hunter I've had excellent success with Craigslist, particularly so for contracting positions.

Hi R. Wilkerson ... thanks for posting comments.

I'm glad that Craigslist has worked for you ... it does for many people. By any chance are you in one of the areas where CL charges for job ads? The quality goes up when there is a cost to place ads.

Best wishes! Bob :-)
