SimplyHired is the youngest of the remaining top three sites … and it shows.
Oh, the exuberance and pratfalls of youth! The confidence to try anything, the clothes (servers in this case) that always seem a bit too small, and the occasional misstep – should one really be proud to present a “My Fired Valentine Contest” or the “Top 10 Rules for Safe Sex in the Workplace.”?
At 78% coverage for this test sample (see the initial post in the series for background), SimplyHired may be the perfect choice for our hypothetical job seeker – Eugene is a college town after all. But I’m old (although I still feel young), so I’d trade a bit less ‘hipness’ for a bit faster performance – the site seems sluggish lately.
Time, plus investment, could see SimplyHired mature into the top site for active job search. At the moment, the site shows great promise with the 3rd-best coverage score, but could benefit from a performance boost, improved handling of duplicate records, and a more holistic view of job seekers’ needs. A little maturing is sometimes a good thing.
hey, thanks Robert :)
we like to think our youthful exuberance & no-fear-of-flying approach is an asset, even if perhaps we take a few detours here & there. one's reach should exceed one's grasp, don't you agree?
in any case we appreciate the feedback above, and we'll keep working hard on improving our current feature set, as well as delivering some new stuff to check out in a few more weeks.
regardless, i don't think we'll be losing any of our irreverence or gaining a lot of maturity anytime soon -- so be it. while we realize our site may not be to everyone's taste, we seem to be having some success reaching an audience other sites don't. and we wouldn't have it any other way :)
regards & keep up the great blogging,
